Accidentally Epic
About
All Aric wanted was to serve ale, keep the peace at the Rusty Goblet tavern, and avoid attention.
He never asked to discover he was the last heir of the legendary Luminous Dynasty. He certainly never intended to learn that his ordinary “clumsiness” was actually extraordinary magical power. And he definitely didn’t plan to face Korthax, the immortal dark mage who destroyed his ancestors and has hunted his bloodline for centuries.
Yet when a silver-streaked mage named Elara recognizes his hidden abilities and enemies attack his village, Aric reluctantly leaves everything he’s known. Joined by a gruff dwarf woman, a philosophical elf, a mysterious scout, and his cantankerous tavern-keeper guardian, Aric finds himself at the center of a prophecy he doesn’t understand and a destiny he never wanted.
As legends of the “Blue Mage” spread and his reputation grows, Aric remains bewildered by his supposed heroism. While everyone else sees a legendary warrior of destiny, he’s still just trying not to spill the metaphorical drinks.
With enemies closing in and ancient artifacts awakening, Aric must find a way to embrace his heritage without losing himself—and save the world without charging anyone for the service.
Sometimes the most epic journeys begin with the most accidental heroes.
Praise for this book
This is one of those fantasy stories that hits all the classic beats—but does it with charm, wit, and just enough self-awareness. Aric is the perfect reluctant hero: clumsy, confused, and somehow constantly in over his head. The supporting cast is great (the dwarf woman was a standout), and the worldbuilding blends myth and humor in a really satisfying way. Some moments get a little trope-heavy, but that’s also part of the fun. If you love humble heroes and taverns with destiny on tap, this one’s a blast.
